Where I've Been...and where I'm Going
I got my first guitar when I was about 12. For the last 40 years I've lead, or been a part of 8 bands. A punk/pop band, The Shades. A Motown Review, The New Capitals. A funk band, Loretta and The Loose Boys. A country band, The Recordmen. A soul review, Soul Train. A piano trio soul band, The Huge Groove. An R and B backing band, Little Big Man and The Huge Groove. And now a jazz Trio, The Huge Groove Trio. Who knows where the next 40 years will take me.
Little Big Man and The Huge Groove
After about a 20 year layoff to raise a family, I put part of the old Huge Groove band back together and created a backing band to be able to back any singer with any music. Over the last 6 years we have worked with Diana Keillor, Sonia Ndongmo, Iyono Ede, Kavita Thomas, Rachelle Behrens, Matt Oliver, Eleanor Altman, and Alyssa Omura. Jazz, soul, R and B, and country.
The Huge Groove Trio
From an early age I listened to jazz. I started with my dad's Time/Life box set of records of all the big bands of the 30's and 40's. I've listened to all the famous songbook recordings of all the great singers. I can hum you any jazz standard. And now I'm playing them.
